ABOUT THE DIRECTOR-ON SITE PROVIDER
Hi!! My name is Glory. I welcome you to My Little Genius with open arms!!! I can’t stress enough how much I believe in the effect and power that unconditional love, positive attention through praise, and making learning such a fun tool has on success. Our primary goal is for children to feel safe and secure. Prior to being independent a child must know that he or she can depend on adults and a predictable environment. Children are treated with respect and kindness. We recognize that children develop at different rates and have different interest. Small group size and appropriate teacher-child ratios allow for meeting the individual needs of each child.
As your child’s provider of care I am proud to say that I am a professional dedicated to the well being of each child. My highest level of education is College and I have a degree as an Ultrasound Technologist. One of my passions, which will be fun to utilize with the children, is my training in theatre. To say the least, I was also a licensed EMT and I worked for the New York City Fire Department for 10 years. Above all, I have all my certifications and license required of the NYC Health Department to run a daycare.
Not only do I have an extensive background in childcare, but I am a mother of two beautiful boys who amaze me everyday. Being a parent is my most prideful and favorite thing in the world. I take their everyday developing stages very serious and I personally know how scary it feels to leave your child with strangers who might be more worried about getting paid than your child's well being. Love and affection is also very important to me. This has not only been a goal of mine but it is a blessing to have the opportunity to leave a great positive impact on a child's developing life. We have an educational, social, & developmental agenda each day. I've never been so happy to be able to share what comes so naturally & what I have a passion for.
I chose the name for the daycare when I realized the impact I had on my sons. At just 1 years old, they both recognized & identified all shapes, had an amazing vocabulary, counted up to 15, and have always been two of the happiest little boys I've ever seen. I know I have the power to make a difference in the way children learn and that's why I embrace my daycare to the fullest. Any staff member of My Little Genius goes through a background check and is chosen based on my concept as well.
If you are looking for a safe & worry-free home when you leave your little angel behind, look no further!!!! You will be so proud to see their learning stages flourish each day!!!!
OUR PHILOSOPHY
There is a Little Genius in all children!!! It's a proven fact. Did you know that the first three years of life is the period of immense growth in all areas of a baby's development. A new baby's brain is about 25 percent of its approximate adult weight. By age 3, it has matured dramatically by producing billions of cells and hundreds of trillions of connections. These cells are then ready and craving for new information. It's amazing what repetition and stimulation can do to a child who indeed craves for new teachings each day. Learning more than the basics in a fun way will keep their self esteem high. In a gentle, fun, and learning environment, your child could know more than the basics before 1st grade! With daily reading, receptive learning, and an immense amount of love, your child will excel.
Our educational program is based on sound principles of child development. Our goals are to give children a sense of self worth by helping them develop at their own individual pace while learning basic skills. We want the children to feel confident and secure enough to explore and grow in a stimulating educational and social environment.
Children participate in a variety of individual and group activities designed to develop language and reading readiness skills enhancing physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth, skills and attitudes which will increase their ability to succeed in school.
Through play, children learn about themselves, their environment, people, and the world around them. As they play, children learn to solve problems and to get along with others. They enhance their creativity and develop leadership skills and healthy personalities. Play develops skills children need to learn to read and write. Play in early childhood is the best foundation for success in school.
From the time your child wakes up until the time he or she goes to sleep at night, there are countless opportunities for learning and growing. Our caring, observant, responsive staff is trained to stay constantly involved in every aspect of your child’s day so they can help facilitate "teachable moments."
